End of the World show//Blacktooth Winter Mix: OLMEC

On December 21, a fun-loving, lambasting group of people will join in the phenomenological, eschatological spectacle that is the “end” of the Mayan Calendar at Oak Valley Lanes off Dickerson Rd in East Nashville. Chris Crofton will be the MC and tunes will be provided by Clear Plastic Masks, Majestico, Richie, as well as a few special guests, including a real life Mayan!

Tickets are $15 , all you can bowl, and you can get them at The Groove and Grimey’s. If you pre-order and bring the tickets to the party, you will be given a special end of the world hanky that will aid in either the drying of your tears or to signal your surrender to the alien overlords.

Below is also the Winter Mix compiled by your Blacktooth homies: OLMEC. It should remind you of warmer places during the frustratingly cold winter but also serve as a dutiful reminder that Winter is usually a cold, bitter time but that the spirit of Ravi Shankar rests over us. D/L and tracklist below.

Majestico – Love Is God (Vid + 7″)

Majestico is releasing a fairly good take of their staple songs this Saturday. Get on it, get played on, get tape on it. The neon kind. Watch out for the punks that come your way, Bay-Bay say. Is Love God? say Jose but we don’t know so now you know. I’d personally rather see my teeth in drag than drag my teeth all around this town but that’s the city for you. Good luck.

Meadownoise Record Release

Matt Glassmeyer, townie and Meadownoise, will be releasing his record, It’s 4:00 – which we can only assume is an NPR reference, which is not cool – at the locally owned and operated record store The Groove this Saturday (8/25). It’s good. We’ve heard it. So should you. He made it in his room with all of his own stuff, no money, and lots of time (his words). You can peep it at his band camp below, as well as with the video for the song “This Machine and Me” which has railbikes in it. Matt’s a grownup badass.

Get right with it everybody. Record Store Day 2012 is gwon be too tight.

There’s a lot of really good bands, free beer (I think?) and Black Diamond. Who is a Black Neil Diamond impersonator. Who will be on a roof. And that’s reason enough.

Plus The Groove carries all of the Blacktooth Releases and they rule on a personal level.

We’ll see you there. And so will he:
